Privacy and your personal information – Privacy Collection Statement

The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) invites you to share your views on the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation’s (ANSTO) application for a facility licence for a nuclear installation, known as the Nuclear Medicine Manufacturing Facility at the ANSTO Campus in Lucas Heights, NSW. ARPANSA is required to consult with people and bodies and invite them to make submissions about nuclear installation applications pursuant to section 48 of the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Regulations 2018 (Cth).

Your personal information is protected by law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and is being collected by ARPANSA, via Citizen Space, for the purposes of conducting a consultation process in relation to the application for a facility licence, confirming your submission has been received and to request further information if required.

If you do not provide your personal information to us, we may not be able to contact you in regard to your submission and confirm receipt of your submission.

ARPANSA also holds personal information in accordance with the Archives Act 1983 (Cth). ARPANSA will collect your personal information at the time that you provide a submission, unless you choose to make a submission anonymously and you are not reasonably identifiable from the information provided in your submission. In this consultation we may collect personal information including your full name, organisation, email, internet protocol (IP) address, browser identification, suburb, postcode, comments and opinions. If you decide to provide ARPANSA with your suburb and postcode, ARPANSA may use this information to analyse where main concerns originate from and may share de-identified and aggregated data with the licence applicant, the Minister for Health and Aged Care and the Nuclear Safety Committee.

We will not use or disclose personal information without your consent, except where authorised or required by law.

ARPANSA will not publish submissions in full on their website. ARPANSA may de-identify personal information received as part of this consultation process and summarise submission themes with the summary posted on its website. Personal information is de-identified if the information is no longer about an identifiable individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.

You should not include information in your submission about another individual who is identified, or reasonably identifiable. If you need to include information about another individual in your submission, you should inform that individual of the contents of this notice and obtain their consent to ARPANSA collecting their personal information

ARPANSA’s privacy policy contains information about: 

  • how you may access the personal information ARPANSA holds about you and how you can seek correction of it; and 
  • how you may complain about a breach of 
    • the APPs; or 
    • a registered APP code that binds ARPANSA;
    • and how ARPANSA will deal with such a complaint.
